ADULT HEALTH SCREENS

An adult health screen – a “warrant of fitness” for your body – is a valuable health checkup for anyone aged over 30 years.  You can have an adult health screen every two years.

The screen can pick up a range of health issues such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney problems and some cancers.  Many of these health issues can go undetected for years but if diagnosed and treated early on can precent more serious complications from arising later.

The screening process includes two appointments with a nurse.  Each appointment costs $47 ($20 for CSC holders).

At the first appointment the nurse will take some clinical recordings (blood pressure, pulse rate, height, weight) and do a blood test for liver and kidney functions, diabetes screening, cholesterol levels and a full blood count.  A discussion about diet and lifestyle is also included.

At the second appointment (with the same nurse) the results of the tests are discussed.  Education about options to optimise your health and well-being are highlighted.  Goals are set according to your individual needs and priorities.

For men aged 40 years or over, a prostate examination every two years is also recommended.  This requires a separate appointment with your enrolled clinician.
